Cwmgors 6 Aberavon Quins 6

For the second season running the Quins were forced to be content with a draw at Parc Y Weryn.

On the newly laid pitch which was extremely soft with the occasional stones emerging the players had to be very wary.

The Quins swarmed to the attack from the start with Adam Dawe, Craig Cox and Lloyd Hayden impressing. The decision to run three early penalty goals instead of taking the points came back to haunt the Quins as they failed to break down the home defence.

Too many errors in attack by both sides allied to stern defending made an absorbing but not very entertaining game.

A couple of forays by Dean Scully, Ryan Pugh and Steve Colarusso looked promising but would-be scoring passes did not go to hand.

The Quins continually out scrummed the home pack and took four takes against the put in  but the only reward was a Ryan Pugh penalty goal to make it 3-0 at the break.

Early in the second half hard running winger Kyle Williams had to leave due to a head injury sustained earlier to be replaced by Jack Dacey who put in a long touchline sprint but the final pass again failed to be taken. Garan Jones levelled with a penalty before Pugh Put the Quins ahead with his second wide angled penalty shot. Jones levelled for Cwmgors who pressed hard for victory but the Quins defence remained firm.

The Quins Development XV demolished a depleted Maesteg Quins  II XV by 67 pts to 5

Tries came from:- Jamie Gibbs, Glen Williams, Aris Koulizakis, Ben Evans, Matthew Morgan, Cadfan Edwards, Dyla Maclachlan, Will Rowlands, Liam Oates, Jamie Lean & Corey Bradley. Skipper, Karl Davies added 5 conversions and Glen Williams 1.
