Taibach v Aberavon Quins

 Taibach 10 Aberavon Quins 81

The Quins were far too strong up front and too much pace behind for a game but outplayed Taibach XV scoring thirteen tries in the process and taking a step nearer promotion

From the kick off the Quins were penalised and Aaron Jones eased Taibach into the lead with a straight penalty goal.

The Quins then took the lead through a great forward surge from a scrum and No 8 Conor O'Callaghan grounded and Marc Sheppard converted.

Great running and handling between the backs and forwards saw centre Jack Dacey split the defence putting winger Marcus David over for a spectacular score.

It was David who soon after made a spectacular run from his own line beating off would be tacklers before slipping a smart grubber kick through for great support running full back Ryan Pugh to touchdown, Sheppard converted.

More forward pressure spelt trouble for the home pack and a penalty try converted by Sheppard was the result.

Great interplay involving flanker Craig Cox and hooker Luke Davies resulted in a try for impressive centre Gareth Pugh converted by Sheppard.

Scrum half Jake Flynn then produced a devastating break for Marcus David to grab his second try to make it 38-3 at the break.

Two great individual tries started the second half the first, a fifty metre effort from Flynn and the second a kick and chase from No 8 O'Callaghan both improved by Sheppard.

Sheppard then produced a touchline break and his clever cross kick brought a second try for Flynn which Sheppard converted.

Luke Davies produced several bulldozing runs and replacement props Mike Burgess and Tom James each grabbed tries as did winger Kyle Williams.

To their credit Taibach never gave up and flanker Ryan Price capped an eye catching performance with a try from a maul converted by Aaron Jones but the last score went to the Quins when Gareth Pugh ripped the ball free after his tackle and crossed under the bar for Sheppard to convert.

It will be all roads to Penlan on 21st May for what could be a championship decider.
