Kenfig Hill 22 Aberavon Quins 24

The Quins fell behind to the Mules in an error strewn first half but made a late recovery to take the spoils. Early pressure from the lively home pack enabled Gareth Harvey to dive over from close range. Lloyd Giles added the conversion and stretched the lead with a penalty. The Quins pack often came off second best in the early exchanges as lively Tom Jones and Tom Ansen shone together with Harvey. Skipper Tom Briggs gave a polished display at scum half but in the set scrums it was the Quins in command.

The Quins main mode of attack came from No8 Conor O'Callaghan and scrum half Nathan Flynn with occasional strong bursts from Craig Cox, Dale Bowen and Callum

A strong run from prop Mike Burgess raised an attack for the visitors and Jack Dacey made some threatening runs before linking with fellow centre Jordan Crealock who finished impressively to put the Quins on the scoreboard.

Kenfig Hill hit back strongly and swarmed to the attack and Ansen got under a Briggs kick ahead to score. Giles did well to convert from a wide angle to put his side 17-5 up at half time.

The Quins improved in the second half as their forwards gained dominance with replacement flanker Matthew Saker making a big impact.

The Mules defended well but it was the Quins centres Dacey and Crealock who combined and Crealock sped over. Ryan Pugh converted and the ref appeared to be the only one present to see a forward pass from Dacey that denied Crealock his hat trick. Injuries to the Mules front row meant the last twenty minutes were played with passive scrums and Briggs and Ansen took full advantage and made what looked a winning score when Tom Jones crashed over. The Quins mid-field again combined well and powerful winger Jordan Condon scored a spectacular try converted by Ryan Pugh and it was Pugh who sped over after smart back play to score a try to level the scores and landed the conversion to take the lead. It was left to Giles to attempt a rescue for the Mules but the Quins held their breath as his wide angled penalty shot drifted wide giving the visitors a bonus point victory.
