Pontycymer 10 Aberavon Quins 52

A youthful Quins XV suffered occasionally at the hands of a heavyweight home pack but the win was as comfortable as the score suggests.

Full back, Kieran Davies was in great form and a dazzling run from him set up centre Jake Price on a touchline sprint to the line. Ryan Pugh converted from wide out.

Pugh then converted from the opposite touchline when strong running winger Kyle Williams finished another sweeping move.

The strong home pack gave the Quins scrum some trouble and took two heels against the put-in. A good penalty by fly half Pearce gained a line out close to the Quins line and a strong maul resulted in a try for Jonathan Evans. Pearce converted.

Fly half Pugh then split the home defence and indiscipline gave him a simple penalty shot.

Another transgression gave the Quins a penalty thirty metres out and scrum half Jake Flynn took a quick tap and skipped through the leaden footed defence to score beneath the crossbar. Pugh converted to make it 24-7 at the break.

Early in the second half Pearce cut the deficit with a penalty goal.

A yellow card compounded the Ponty problems and  Kyle Williams gained the Quins bonus point with a spectacular kick and chase converted from the touchline by Pugh.

A magnificent individual effort from Flynn saw him gather his own chip ahead to rip through the home defence to score. Pugh converted. The Quins piled on the agony, Kieran Davies and Connor O'Callaghan added tries both converted by Pugh before in gathering darkness the ref called a halt.
