Maesteg Celtic 18 Aberavon Quins 17

It was a mystery how  the Quins came to lose a game which they were in control for long periods. Storming forward play from Craig Cox, Luke Davies and Tom James set up several promising attacks, one of which produced a penalty goal from Ryan Pugh. Celtic hit back at once when flanker Jon Davies sliced through the Quins defence to score an unconverted try.

The Quins returned to the attack as full back Kieran Davies combined with Pugh and scrum half Jake Flynn to set up some promising forays. The Quins pack dominated the scrums and Luke Davies took two strikes against the head. The Quins were denied a score as the forwards powered over the line but the ref ruled against a try.

From the resulting scrum five, centre Quiade Boal picked an unstoppable angle to score beneath the crossbar. Pugh converted.

The Quins threatened to run away with things as another spectacular move combining backs and forwards resulted in a try for Kieran davies which pugh converted. for a 17-5 lead.

Some poor kicking from the Quins allowed a foothold for the Celtic to mount a rare attack. A penalty placed in the corner produced a strong maul from the Celtic lineout and Golding crashed over for his team's second unconverted try .

The second half was more evenly matched and a home yellow card appeared to spur on the Celts.

The Quins organisation became unravelled and a sweeping move produced a great try for Grant narrowed the gap to two points and in the dying moments replacement Tanner claimed a victory with a straight penalty goal.
